We have made the journey ourselves

Opening a pizzeria feels big, but it is mostly a lot of small steps.

That is why we break everything into short guides, one step at a time and without complicated words.

The road to your own pizzeria

  1. 1

    Run the numbers first

How much money do you have, and how much do you need to borrow? Do the maths before you promise anything.

  2. 2

    Start the company

Register the company and get F-tax status. It takes a few days and you can do it yourself.

  3. 3

    Find the premises

A former pizzeria or restaurant is best. The oven and extractor fan are often already there.

  4. 4

    Notify the municipality

Your food business must be registered with the municipality before you open. Simple, but essential.

  5. 5

    Build the menu and prices

Keep the dishes few and do them really well. Set prices that cover ingredients, rent and wages.

  6. 6

    Open and get seen

Google, signs and online ordering from day one. Treat the neighbours in the first week if you can.

Common questions

What does it cost to start a pizzeria?

Usually SEK 300,000 to 1.5 million. The premises decide most of the cost. If you take over a ready-made pizzeria with an oven and fridges, it gets much cheaper than building from scratch.

How long does it take to open?

Expect 3 to 6 months. The company takes a few days. Premises, contracts, renovation and the municipal registration take care of the rest. If you take over ready premises, it goes faster.

How much does a pizzeria earn?

A typical pizzeria turns over SEK 2 to 6 million a year. Profit is often 5 to 15 percent. The biggest factors are the rent, waste and how many hours you work yourself.

Do I need to know how to bake pizza myself?

No, you can hire a pizza baker. But it is smart to know the basics. Then you can cover sick days and you know what good pizza looks like.

Should I buy an existing pizzeria or start a new one?

Buying a pizzeria that already works is often easiest. The oven, customers and permits are already there. But check the numbers carefully. Always ask why the owner is selling.
